CSA has acquired the Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS) from OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. CSA has also announced the release of CSA Illumina, a platform for online bibliographic and full-text searching.

CSA has acquired PAIS, publishers of the PAIS International and PAIS Archive databases, from OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. CSA will continue to publish the products in print and make the databases available through CSA Illumina. CSA has a research and publishing operation in the social sciences, producing CSA Sociological Abstracts, CSA Social Services Abstracts, CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, ASSIA: Applied Social Science Index & Abstracts, and CSA Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts. PAIS content is intended to complement these proprietary databases as well as other social science databases on the CSA platform from other publishers.

PAIS, a division of OCLC, is a nonprofit publisher dedicated to providing access to the literature of public affairs and public policy-current issues and actions that affect world communities, countries, people, and governments. PAIS publishes indexes and abstracts that help people identify and locate documents about important political, economic, and social policy issues.

CSA is a worldwide information company, serving as a guide to researchers by enabling and expediting discovery, aiding the management and organization of information, and providing tools to assist in its subsequent dissemination. CSA specializes in publishing and distributing, in print and electronically, bibliographic and full-text databases and journals in four primary editorial areas: natural sciences, social sciences, arts & humanities, and technology.

CSA Illumina features include: Quick Search, online tutorials, custom default options, multi-language interface options, search tools including Combined Search, dynamic de-duplication of records with show/hide duplicates option, hyper-linked descriptor terms for quick execution of new search queries, QuikBib bibliography creator, library administration module, and ADA and SENDA compliance. Bibliographic and full-text databases published by CSA and its publishing partners are available through the service, including CSA Sociological Abstracts, the SAGE Full-Text Collections, CSA Materials Research Database with METADEX, BioOne, PsycINFO, CSA Technology Research Database, and ARTbibliographies Modern. CSA Illumina interface will be offered in parallel with the existing CSA Internet Database Service interface through January 2005.
