Factiva Offers Search and Workflow Tools for Microsoft Office System

Factiva, a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, has announced the availability of a suite of solutions for Microsoft Office 2003 and SharePoint Products and Technologies. The new solution pack for Microsoft Office 2003, Windows SharePoint Services, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 is designed to enable information workers to find, organize, read, and act on business news and information from inside their most used applications.

Factiva has released solutions that are designed to address multiple business workflow needs: Two new Web Parts for searching and monitoring news and information (Track Web Part allows groups to view news about specific interest areas, while iWorks provides a search tool for information workers that use Factiva's XML platform); daily news summaries; group news feed for SharePoint Portal Server 2003; and a toolbar for convenient access to Factiva from Internet Explorer.

The new solutions represent the second phase in Factiva's plan to embed content into the workflow of Microsoft Office 2003, Windows SharePoint Services, and SharePoint Portal Server 2003 customers. The first phase involved close cooperation between Factiva and Microsoft so as to imbed Factiva search technology within the Office 2003 Research Task pane.
