Endeca Announces ProFind 4.6; Endeca InFront Added to Walmart.com

Endeca, a provider of advanced search and Guided Navigation solutions, has announced the immediate availability of Endeca ProFind 4.6.Endeca has also announced that its Endeca InFront search, navigation, and merchandising solution has been added to Walmart.com.

Endeca ProFind 4.6 is a new version of its enterprise search, Guided Navigation and Content Spotlighting platform. Features of the new software include Rich Site Summary (RSS) support for custom alerting and Web Services and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) support for system-to-system integration and flexible customization. Endeca ProFind combines search with Guided Navigation and Content Spotlighting capabilities to help users (employees, customers, partners, subscribers, prospects) find the information most relevant to their needs. Guided Navigation leverages the characteristics of data to categorize results and present valid refinement and exploration options. Endeca ProFind's Content Spotlighting capabilities are designed to promote relevant content based on defined business rules, such as user profile or workgroup, search terms, navigation options, and now time of day or day of the week.

New and expanded Endeca ProFind features include: Rich Site Summary (RSS) support that allows users of Endeca applications to create custom alerts and have them delivered as RSS feeds or via email systems; Web Services and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) support is intended to make system-to-system integration easier; new time/date rules enhance business user control over Content Spotlighting; automatic phrase recognition; and simplified integration with content management systems.

Endeca has also announced that Endeca InFront is now in use on Walmart.com. InFront is designed to offer customers a more accurate and satisfying search experience for online shopping. For example, a search at Walmart.com for "Star Wars" returns 900 results, topped by three predefined best sellers and accompanied by refinement options that break those results down by department or product category: electronics, toys, video games, books, movies, music, brands and price range.
