Copernic Technologies Inc. has announced Copernic Desktop Search (CDS), designed as a search engine for the PC. CDS is intended to allow users to instantly search files, emails, and email attachments stored anywhere on your PC hard drive. Using a streamlined user interface, CDS executes sub-second searching of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, Acrobat PDF's, music, picture, and video formats, contacts, browser history, and favorites. CDS features an integrated pre-viewer that provides users with a view of the file or email, highlights all search terms, and automatically scrolls to the first use of these terms in a document. CDS has been designed primarily for desktop search beginners. CDS works with Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP and Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. It is available online as a free download.
