Convera Corporation, a provider of search and categorization software for enterprises and government agencies, has announced the company has been chosen to provide the FBI with an agency-wide search and discovery platform. The search and discovery platform will be made available throughout the FBI network at agency headquarters and field offices. Convera's RetrievalWare is expected to allow FBI analysts to search quickly and effectively throughout the agency's counter-terrorism and Automated Case Systems databases, extracting intelligence data to help analysts respond to homeland security threats. The RetrievalWare discovery platform is already in use within the agency's Investigative Data Warehouse (IDW), which was developed after September 11, 2001 to improve intelligence sharing across multiple government agencies managing terrorist and homeland security activity.
