Daum Communications Corp. of South Korea has purchased Lycos US, in an apparent effort to enter the US search market. Reports are still unclear as to the exact price of the sale, although it appears to fall between $95 million and $115 million. Lycos Inc. was previously sold to Terra Networks SA in 2000 for $12.5 billion. Terra will retain certain pieces of the Lycos brand, including Lycos Europe and Terra Networks USA, a portal for Spanish users.
