AtHoc, Inc. and IBM have announced that they are partnering to extend the capabilities of IBM DB2 Information Integrator's enterprise search capability, part of IBM's Project Masala currently in beta. AtHoc, a provider of subscriptions and notifications technology, will provide the ability to add subscriptions and notifications as a method of delivering updated information and search results. AtHoc's users will be able to subscribe to alerts on any topic in the existing corporate information taxonomy as well as subscribe to user-defined queries. When new information matches the subscribed topic or query, the user automatically gets notified and receives the results in email, Web, mobile device, or desktop messaging channels. The subscriptions and notifications technology, working in conjunction with enterprise search, is designed to make information resources that were typically hidden become more used through proactive notifications to employees.
