Verity Introduces Collaborative Classifier for Taxonomy Management

Verity Inc. has announced the availability of Verity Collaborative Classifier 1.0, a taxonomy and classification management software designed to enable distributed subject matter experts to collaborate with corporate librarians and knowledge engineers in real-time to organize information around specific business roles and requirements. Verity Collaborative Classifier provides enterprises with flexible taxonomy development, taxonomy rollout, and taxonomy maintenance capabilities.

Verity Collaborative Classifier's workflow capabilities enable users in different roles to collaborate in real-time even though they may be distributed across different parts of the organization or geographic locations. The software permits the maintenance of the taxonomies to be distributed to authorized end-users, subject matter experts, and knowledge engineers, based on individuals' roles within the enterprise. Once an editor proposes a modification to the taxonomy, the resultant changes are automatically routed to the appropriate knowledge engineer, or publisher, for review. With approval, the changes are then forwarded for automatic publishing, either in real-time or on a set schedule. The workflow also allows multiple users to work simultaneously on a shared taxonomy.

Verity Collaborative Classifier automatically assigns, or publishes, documents to categories once taxonomies have been set up. It is during this phase that the software scores each document, leveraging Verity's automatic classification with business rules for each category. A document is then accepted into the category, routed to a publisher for approval, or rejected based on the configurable threshold determined for that category.
