Language Analysis Systems has announced a partnership with Memex, Inc., a provider of criminal and counter-terrorism intelligence software, that is intended to improve the name searching and matching capabilities of many law enforcement agencies. LAS's products are designed to solve the problems of decoding multi-cultural names by combining computational linguistics with advanced software engineering. LAS software gives law enforcement professionals a tool to understand names and match them against various databases and watch lists.

The Memex intelligence system is also used in the commercial fraud arena, and Memex search and analysis technology has been deployed at U.S. defense sites. Memex is designed to provide law enforcement agencies with an operational intelligence system that enables secure management, development, and sharing of intelligence information targeting three levels of crime: single jurisdictional, multi-jurisdictional, and global.

LAS software is used by Law Enforcement, U.S. Intelligence and Border Inspection agencies as well as commercial corporations. LAS technologies are designed for dealing with unfamiliar names and the different ways they are Romanized. LAS technology will also be integrated into Memex applications that serve the insurance industry.
