LTU Technologies (LTU) has announced that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has chosen its Image-Seeker application. The FBI has licensed LTU Image-Seeker primarily for assisting its Innocent Images Group in its investigations of child pornography. LTU's image search and similarity technology are designed to help law enforcement agencies build links and relationships between disparate cases that may lead to new information for victim identification or evidence that can be used against suspects.

The Innocent Images Group is tasked with investigating child pornography cases in which analysis of visual assets can be a key component. It is also used for similar purposes by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the United States. In 1995, the FBI created its Innocent Images National Initiative (IINI) with the goals of breaking up networks of online pedophiles, stopping sexual predators from using the Internet to lure children from their families, and rescuing victims. Today, 28 of the FBI's 56 field offices have undercover Innocent Images operations, and more than 200 FBI agents work on these cases. The Innocent Images National Initiative (IINI) enforces statutes involving: possession, production, and/or distribution of child pornography facilitated by an online computer; interstate travel for sexual activity with a minor facilitated by the use of an online computer; and sexual exploitation of children facilitated by an online computer.
