Endeca, a provider of search and guided navigation solutions, has announced new enterprise search capabilities and two new strategic partnerships intended to help organizations turn information into actionable intelligence. To bolster its capabilities for managing and adding structure to traditionally unstructured documents and content Endeca has teamed with Stratify and Taxonomy Warehouse. In addition, Endeca announced the immediate availability of Endeca ProFind 4.1, the latest version of its enterprise search and navigation platform.

Endeca and Stratify, a provider of unstructured data management software, have announced a reseller agreement intended to provide comprehensive enterprise search, navigation, and categorization solutions to new and existing customers. According to the terms of the deal, Endeca will complement its own capabilities for searching and navigating structured and unstructured content with Stratify's categorization and taxonomy management solution. New capabilities that Endeca will offer customers based on the Stratify Discovery System will include: Categorization using multiple techniques (including statistical, Boolean, keyword, and source rule categorizers) that operate in parallel; Automatic taxonomy creation using documents from combinations of corporate repositories and/or Internet sources to produce a single consistent view of information important to a business; The Stratify Taxonomy Manager, an integrated interface for managing all stages of the taxonomy lifecycle, including creating, defining, testing, publishing, and refining taxonomies and document classifications, using a combination of automated techniques, reporting, and human review; and Automatic taxonomy refinement and optimization. Endeca will integrate and resell Stratify Discovery System 3.0, Stratify's unstructured data management solution, in an effort to enable Endeca customers to manage the taxonomies that will structure Endeca's Guided Navigation while ensuring that documents are organized for efficient retrieval.

Taxonomy Warehouse, a part of the Synapse Corporation, is a provider of industry-specific thesauri, taxonomies, and controlled vocabulary. Endeca's partnership with Taxonomy Warehouse is expected to enable Endeca to better serve customers across verticals with pre-built, industry-specific taxonomies--under the primary headings of Business, Health, Products & Services, Technology and Social Sciences.

Capabilities of Endeca ProFind 4.1 include: Simplified Data Integration--New Content Adapter Development Kit to help customers and partners create direct integration between Endeca and enterprise content sources; Microsoft Exchange and JDBC Adapters--Pre-built content adapters allow quick data integration with email and database platforms; Improved Management--Enhanced Business and Developer Studios offer greater control over search functionality and relevancy ranking and take advantage of Endeca's Content Spotlighting capability; and Robust Security--SSL support augments scalable security capabilities to ensure that access to sensitive and proprietary information is limited to select, approved users.
