Recommind Receives Patent

Recommind, a provider of text management systems, has announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued Patent No. 6,687,696 B2 for Recommind's Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis (PLSA), which provides systems and methods for personalized search, information filtering, and the generation of search retrieval recommendations using statistical latent class models. The patent applies to the field of data processing systems and more specifically to a personalized search engine. Recommind's patented PLSA methods were developed during research led by Recommind's chief scientist, Dr. Thomas Hofmann, now a professor at Brown University, and Dr. Jan Puzicha, Recommind's chief technology officer.
