MuseGlobal has announced a new optional MuseSearch product version that is designed to allow increased customization down to the level of the individual metasearch user. Individual user preferences can be captured to provide a personalized interface, selection of search sources, and metasearch functionality. Such attributes as number of results to be returned for each source, the number of results displayed per page, the de-duplication algorithm, and the method of sorting can be set by the user. MuseGlobal has also provided users with the ability to personally manage authentication for all sources. "Personal Access Controls" can be entered to search sources that require an individual username/password or various other schemas. Three access types are supported: CGI Script, HTTP Authentication, or Proxy Authorization. The base MuseSearch product offers customization features down to the user class/department level.

MuseGlobal has also announced that Westminster College, a private liberal arts college in Utah, has selected MuseSearch in an effort to speed up and simplify student research. Westminster's Giovale Library will use the metasearch tool as a common interface to more than 100 online databases. Implementation is anticipated early this year. MuseSearch allows a researcher to enter a search query once, but simultaneously search an unlimited number of online resources. Searches are translated to the native protocol and search language of each database and results from all the sources are integrated, allowing de-duplication and other advanced processing. The Giovale Library plans to offer the option to search a specific database, such as MEDLINE, or enter a broad category of databases such as (anthropology, art, or chemistry) to search multiple relevant sources.
