Dogpile, the metasearch engine, has announced the launch of an updated version of the Dogpile Search Toolbar with new features designed to provide users with added convenience and faster access to information. The new Toolbar is immediately available for download at www.dogpile.com/toolbar.htm for users of Windows 98/2000/ME/XP and Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher.

Once downloaded, the Dogpile Search Toolbar resides within a user's Web browser. The Toolbar offers access to Dogpile metasearch, which draws together results from search engines, as well as yellow and white pages, from any page on the Internet. New Dogpile Search Toolbar features include: Scrolling news ticker--scrolls the top headlines from ABCNEWS.com within a user's Web browser. Clicking on a headline takes the user to the full story at ABCNEWS.com. The news ticker can be customized and turned on or off.  Other content options are planned for the coming months. Pop-up ad blocker--eliminates pop-up ads while Web browsing. The blocker screens pop-ups to eliminate those that are advertisements and users can configure it to allow pop-ups from certain sites. Users are notified when pop-ups are blocked with cursor and sound cues. The cues can be customized by the user and turned on or off. Cursor search--users can conduct a Dogpile search on a word or phrase within any Web page by highlighting it and right-clicking their mouse.
