Endeca, provider of Endeca Search and Guided Navigation solutions, has announced Version 4.0 of Endeca ProFind, the company's product for enterprise search solutions. Enhancements to Endeca ProFind 4.0 include expanded enterprise security and content integration, Asian language support, enhanced full-text search capabilities, and a redesigned Developer Studio tool. Endeca ProFind 4.0 also offers Content Spotlighting that calls out relevant and related information in response to user queries. Endeca ProFind is powered by the technology of the Endeca Navigation Engine. This integrated search and navigation platform is designed to put "content in context" and help users find accurate and precise results.

With Version 4.0, Endeca ProFind has been enhanced in five areas: Expanded Enterprise Security Integration--adds native integration with Access Control Lists (ACLs) from multiple sources. During the content acquisition process, Endeca tags documents with security attributes from the underlying repository. ProFind 4.0 also provides native integration with authentication systems such as LDAP. New Multi-Byte Language Support--Endeca ProFind 4.0 is now based entirely on Unicode, providing search and navigation support for over 250 languages, including new support for Japanese and Chinese. Expanded Content Support--includes new enterprise content adapters for ODBC, Lotus Notes, and XSLT that extend the existing support for enterprise applications, content management systems, and databases. Also, ProFind 4.0 introduces a new search technique that addresses multi-word queries. New "Content Spotlighting" Functionality--allows for the promotion and/or grouping of relevant and related search results for more robust information identification. Endeca ProFind 4.0 also features an enhanced Developer Studio that is designed to allow customers to develop and deploy information retrieval applications faster, shortening time to ROI and lowering IT maintenance and end-user support costs.
