Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), a developer of enterprise search and real-time alerting technologies, has announced that the City of Chicago has deployed FAST Data Search on its government portal site (www.cityofchicago.org), enabling residents and users to search and retrieve public information. Currently fully deployed on the Department of Procurement Services page, the City of Chicago is expanding its use of FAST Data Search across all of the 46 departments on the portal. FAST's enterprise search solution was deployed as part of the City of Chicago's transparent government initiative, which is intended to increase public visibility into city operations, make city services more accessible and convenient, and enable Chicago residents to more easily search and retrieve information about their city. The single-platform approach of FAST Data Search provides customers with scalable search solutions that address their needs and allow them to migrate from smaller installations to enterprise-wide deployments, as required, without changing software platform. FAST Data Search enables companies and organizations to develop information transparency and utilization across organizational units and geographical areas. This results in improved efficiency through collaboration, information sharing, and real-time data monitoring and filtering. With linguistic technologies, categorization, dynamic result clustering, and support for over 225 file formats and 54 languages, the FAST Data Search product suite supplies a complete information retrieval solution ideal for key vertical markets including Financial Services; Government; Media and Publishing; Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals; and ecommerce applications.
