iXmatch Inc., a provider of matching, searching, and analytics software, has announced an agreement with Sagebrush Corporation, a provider of technologies and information resources for K-12 districts and schools, to license and distribute iXmatch software including iXmetafind, its metasearch software. iXmetafind is a key component of Sagebrush's new integrated research tool, Pinpoint, which is designed for K-12 students. iXmetafind extends iXmatch's search technology beyond internal databases to external databases and the Internet. The metasearch engine incorporates search methods to gather, evaluate, rank, and report the most relevant results from multiple sources, including library catalogs, proprietary databases, intranets, and Web search engines. It can be used within a library portal, virtual union catalog, or an online public access catalog. Sagebrush Pinpoint with iXmetafind puts content into context by dynamically clustering search results into groups of similar documents. With Pinpoint, students can manage information overload and navigate through search results by selecting relevant content groups. For example, a search for "mercury" returns thousands of results that are clustered into sub-groups based on context, such as the planet, the element, the Greek god and others. By choosing the planet cluster, other results are removed from view and the student is left with results primarily related to the planet Mercury.
