Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), a developer of search and real-time alert technologies, has unveiled FAST Data Search 3.2, a new version of its search solution that is designed for organizations seeking either departmental or enterprise wide solutions. FAST Data Search offers a combination of real-time search technology, business search management tools, and information analysis capabilities. Its single-platform approach is intended to provide customers with industrial strength search solutions that address their needs and allow them to migrate from smaller installations to enterprise-wide deployments, as required, without changing software platform. Offered as FAST Data Search Professional, FAST Data Search Enterprise, and FAST Data Search SST, the FAST Data Search product line offers two new features: Live Analytics and Business Manager's Control Panel. The Live Analytics feature enables "on-the-fly" data and information analysis with a dynamic drill-down capability, where end users can tap the specific information they need based on the actual data in the result set, rather than pre-defined binning of the data. The Business Manager's Control Panel merges the needs of searchers with the business goals of the organization. Using an interface, business managers can tune the search attributes of the data source so that specific user search queries return the best combination of results. Additional enhancements to this version include improvements to the combination of structured and unstructured data capabilities, automatic document categorization, dynamic result clustering, and similarity based results analysis. Linguistics support for Japanese was added, and automatic language detection was increased to support 54 languages. FAST Data Search also now includes enhanced security features and supports HP-UX and Red Hat Linux Advanced Server, in addition to IBM AIX, Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and Windows 2000/XP.
