LexisNexis U.S., a provider of news, business, and legal information services, and Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), a developer of enterprise search and real-time alerting technologies, have announced that LexisNexis Taxonomy Solutions will be offered through the FAST Enterprise Search Platform (FAST ESP). FAST customers will be able to leverage proprietary taxonomies to improve search results within their own enterprise and across all content.

FAST selected LexisNexis because of its robust taxonomies and indexing expertise. LexisNexis Taxonomy Solutions, powered by LexisNexis SmartIndexing Technology, works with the FAST ESP search platform by organizing content based on controlled vocabulary terms; creating metadata that makes search easier and more relevant. These taxonomies may also form the basis for a variety of user interface features such as guided navigation and on-the-fly results clustering. After a user runs a search, they will be able to view relevant hierarchical classifications that help them to quickly and easily analyze answer sets and launch new queries.
