Readex, a publisher of online historical collections, has announced that it has partnered with Dartmouth College Library to digitize directly from its holdings of the U.S. Congressional Serial Set and American State Papers. Readex is digitizing from the original print volumes of these government publications, housed in Dartmouth College's Baker-Berry Library. These digital editions are part of the Readex Archive of Americana, a Web-based family of historical collections containing books, broadsides, newspapers, government publications, and more.

Readex's digital U.S. Congressional Serial Set, 1817-1980, now complete through 1880, will contain all the reports, documents, and journals of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives from the 15th through the 96th Congresses, comprising more than 12 million pages in over 13,800 volumes. Digital American State Papers, 1789-1838, now complete, includes legislative and executive documents from the first 14 U.S. Congresses and more. Each digital edition features indexing and bibliographic records and provides search capabilities. Readex is employing multiple APT BookScan 1200? machines from Kirtas Technologies, a provider of book scanning and bound document digitization systems. Each APT BookScan 1200? automates the scanning of the print volumes.
