Viapoint Corporation, a provider of desktop organizer software, has announced the availability of an update to the Viapoint Smart Organizer product including an adapter to the X1 Desktop Search solution and new viewer architecture to preview desktop resources.

The integration allows X1 desktop search users to build additional context for searching and to extend available post-search actions by saving items and groups of contacts found in searches into virtual folders for annotation and follow-up. The new Viapoint release also contains additional capabilities to the organizer. New capabilities include a new preview feature to view content from multiple applications while browsing items, tracking of recently viewed companies and contacts, and a quick find tool to jump to selected virtual folders. The free version of Viapoint allows unlimited use of Viapoint's full feature set, allowing users to work more organized with files, RSS feeds, and Web links, but requires paid adapters for connectivity to email programs and CRM applications. The free download is available at the Web site.

Also, SoonR, a provider of secure mobile access to PCs, has announced that they will provide a new service that enables their customers to use desktop search from any mobile device. X1 Technologies has partnered with SoonR to enhance the new service by enabling any file, email, contact, or event that has been indexed with X1 on the desktop, can be found, reviewed, retrieved, and forwarded from any mobile device with data access.

This integration enables mobile access to gigabytes of data on any PC hard drive, as well as the ability to search information using X1 Desktop Search solution, read and send email, retrieve scheduled meetings, manage contacts, and share files--all for no additional cost over the basic data service fees of the mobile provider.
