GlobalSpec, a specialized search engine and online community for engineers and technical buyers, has announced it is further expanding its content offering to users by indexing a broad range of proprietary research and reference content from technical publishers. The Engineering Web--GlobalSpec's vertical search engine now consists of more than 200 million pages of technical information.

Content being indexed includes documents from organizations such as publishing company John Wiley & Sons, Inc., the IEEE, and Knovel, among others. The indexing is designed to enable engineers and technical professionals who visit GlobalSpec each month to discover appropriate resources and conduct comprehensive searches of editorial content, including conference proceedings, reference materials, research papers, and magazine articles. The agreement between GlobalSpec and Wiley allows for the indexing of journals and major reference works--including technical encyclopedias and handbooks-- with future plans for technical books. Through its relationship with the IEEE, GlobalSpec is currently indexing a proprietary feed of over one million technical documents, including journal articles and conference proceedings. The non-profit association publishes over 120 journals and nearly 400 annual conference proceedings in the areas of electrical and electronics engineering and computer science. More than 700 interactive and keyword-rich engineering reference books will be indexed through GlobalSpec's agreement with Knovel.
